Stephanie’s Story

Stephanie and her sweet daughter…

Hi there! I'm a 42-year-old mom with four kids. Our youngest daughter had a liver transplant in 2013, because she was born with a rare liver disease. I found a lump in 2020, but luckily it was not cancerous. I continued to go for regular check-ups, and they found more lumps, but they were always okay. Last April, my mom got diagnosed with breast cancer, so I joined a high-risk program and had imaging every 6 months.

In November, they found another lump, and after some tests, I found out it was cancer. On December 4, I had surgery to remove both breasts without reconstruction because I wanted only what was necessary.

On January 4, I started low-dose chemo and will continue for 12 rounds, along with a year of immunotherapy. It's not the life I expected, but I'm determined to overcome it, just like my daughter did with her liver transplant.
