Jessica C’s Story

Hello, I was diagnosed at 39, just four days before my 40th birthday. I felt the lump over two months before, but it took two months to get in for a mammogram and ultrasound. The diagnosis was invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), originally Stage 1A.

There were two known areas of cancer after multiple biopsies and imaging, but additional suspicious areas were all in my right breast. The doctor recommended a mastectomy, and I decided on a bilateral mastectomy. The imaging and biopsies were too horrible to go through again.

During surgery, nine areas of cancer were found, and it had spread to three lymph nodes. It was a good thing we did the mastectomy. Now, it's Stage 2A. I've had 16 rounds of chemo and 33 sessions of radiation.

I have four chemo sessions left, then on to radiation. I have no hair, a red face, and have gained 20 pounds. I can’t wait for this to be over!

Thank you,

Jessica
