Alyssa’s Story

Hello, I'm Alyssa and I am nominating myself.

Your page started following me a while ago, and I'm currently dealing with Chiari malformation. I got diagnosed in September and had emergency surgery on a Saturday when I went to the ER for a migraine. Since then, I've undergone three procedures, and it's been unexpected and challenging. I have constant numbness in my left leg and buttocks, making it impossible for me to return to my full-time job and the normal life of a 27-year-old taking care of two sons on my own.

I had two brain procedures and one on my spine to address a spinal fluid leak. Additionally, I was diagnosed with meningitis and spent two weeks in the hospital. From September to November, I spent about 35 nights in the hospital and two weeks in a rehab facility, including physical therapy.

Every day is frustrating as I'm not the same as before, but I'm persevering, attending doctor appointments, and handling things to the best of my ability.

-Alyssa
