Traci’s Story

Hi, I am Traci,

I am 35 years old, and I officially got diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma on January 8th, 2024, when my pathology report came back. I had just had my first-ever mammogram in November 2023 and thought I was doing well by starting early. When I got the news, I was in my second day of training, as I had just been selected to be a Chick-fil-A owner/operator on December 5th, a dream my husband and I have worked towards for over 9 years. We've struggled with asking God, why now? When we are finally stepping into where you've called, would this happen to me.

I will never have those answers, and I still have so many questions that I am battling. I do know that I am grateful to have a real shot at beating this thing; my prognosis is stage 1, and after chemo, surgery, and radiation, we are praying for complete healing. I do know that this sad situation will be redeemed and used for good. I want to use my platform in the business world and also among other women to make a difference. I don't know how to tell my story yet because it's just begun, but I will be still and lean into this challenge and transformation.

I have a 6-year-old daughter and my husband of almost 10 years, and I fight for them. I fight every day to trust the Lord and remember he is for me and has a plan for my good even when I can't see it or understand it. We still want to grow our family, and we are finishing up fertility preservation before chemo starts next week. It's a long road ahead, and I am just barely stepping into this valley, but taking one day at a time and finding gratitude in the precious moments.

-Traci
