Rachael’s Story

I was 31 when my world changed, when I was alone at my doctor's appointment, and they told me they were sure I had cancer—despite the fact that my medical team reassured me that I was "too young" to have cancer. My husband saved my life as he persuaded me to advocate for more information, and I was able to get imaging that wasn't typically done for my age.

This was the beginning of a year of an onslaught of appointments and treatment. I was diagnosed with stage 3c triple-positive breast cancer, and my social life became the hospital. While everyone my age was traveling, getting married, and having kids, I was just trying to survive.

I've gone through chemotherapy, DMX to flat aesthetic surgery, 29 rounds of radiation, and 17 rounds of immunotherapy. I am also in medically induced menopause. This is not the way I pictured going into my 30s, but I am grateful I am still here and in survivorship.

Thank you,

Rachael
