Mari’s Story, a Fighter That Nominated Her Friend, Cirene

Cirene, 33, is courageously battling cancer for the second time. She was originally diagnosed at 26, when she battled stage 3 breast cancer. She went through chemo, radiation and a double mastectomy. Despite overcoming these challenges, a few months ago, she began having trouble breathing. After numerous appointments, it was revealed that her cancer had returned, and is now affecting her lungs.

Remarkably, even while dealing with her own health struggles, Cirene consistently checked on me weekly when I received my diagnosis. She is undergoing chemotherapy once again—and facing cancer for the second time takes even more of a toll. Cirene, a truly exceptional person, manages to show up every day for her family. Battling this disease can be isolating, but she remains resilient.

A box filled with love would undoubtedly make a lasting impression on Cirene. Your creative approach to giving back is sincerely appreciated, and as one fighter to another, thank you for your thoughtful gesture.
