Carissa’s Story

My name is Carissa, and I am 37 years old from Ohio. I have been married to my husband, Airek, for nine years, and we have two children: an 11-year-old daughter, Viviene, and a 6-year-old son, Hayes.

I was diagnosed with stage 3, grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma—estrogen/progesterone positive, HER2-negative. I had my chemo port placed two weeks ago and received my first chemotherapy treatment on March 7. After completing chemo, I will undergo surgery, followed by radiation.
